Description This scene was inspired by two mannequins in a storefront in Tombstone Arizona. Doc Holliday and his dead friend are sharing a drink while pondering being already dead, and one who is on death's door.
Naomi Shadle Member Since July 2010 Artist Statement I consider myself a western painter, attempting to capture the old west and bring it to life in vivid color. To me, history is stranger than fiction and much more so for someone who feels they should have been alive in the 1880s to experience things first-hand.
I'm a self-taught artist, having grown up in an artistic and musical family ignited and perpetuated my interest in painting.
Recently I started exploring the old west and its influence on pop culture. My painting style is based on realism with my main inspirations and influences being Sebastian Kruger, Albrecht Durer, Georgia O'Keeffe, Frida Kahlo and Vermeer.
I'm an avid ghost town junkie, and as such I take copious amounts of photos as reference material for future paintings, with some of them turning into works of art on their own.
