Description This is a map of the former town of Kensico, NY about 30 miles North or New York City. The map shows the location of the former town relative to the Kensico reservoir, which supplies water to New York City. The town appears small on the map but looking at tiny details is one of the things that make maps so interesting. The map title includes an illustration of the town church partially submerged under water. The church was destroyed when the reservoir and nearby dam were built but local legends existed when I was young that it would stick up out of the water in years of drought.
