Description Location: Durham Pond, Storrs, Connecticut. Took this shot in 2002 while attending the University of Connecticut. It has been one of my favorites since I began in photography because of the unique shade of orange/pink/maroon of the trees and the little floating dock and lily pads in the forefront. I added some texture to the forefront and background but left the reflection untouched.
My name is Ryan Gilbertie and I am new to Imagekind but not to photography. However, due to some 'fiscal restrictions' have been utilizing cutting-edge equipment circa 2001 and have historically relied on various photo-editing techniques to bring many of my photos up to their maximum potential. At the same time, some are not edited at all. I also do not own or have any intention on utilizing Photoshop, which I only mention to keep the integrity of my original images intact.
My favorite subjects are landscapes, especially forests, in all seasons with one exception: the beach. I would much rather be snowed in cradling a Dunkachino than be counting down the minutes on a beach blanket staring through glazed eyes at short shorts and warm Coronas; to the disdain of most of my female friends...
I love taking shots of my favorite band, Phish, in concert and doing some transformative editing to them but because I am a legal novice I will be keeping those private for the time being. It truly pains me to do so but I'm working on it. Those really are my favorites and I think most unique and creative pieces.
I'm always open to speaking with other photographers about techniques, ideas, or just to chat so feel free to say hello!
