Description A landmarked building, it is being restored by the Richfield Historical Society, Richfield, WI.The Mill's HistoryThe sawmill was built in 1856 by Johann Messer and the flour mill was added by Andrew Messer in 1871. Johann George Mayer purchased the mill in 1876. It served the lumber and grain milling needs of Richfield for over 100 years. In 1998, the Town of Richfield purchased the land and buildings to preserve this historic example of milling. The mill contains the original E.P. Allis (forerunner of Allis-Chalmers) equipment. Under a long-term lease with the Village, the Richfield Historical Society is restoring the Messer/Mayer Grist (grain) Mill. Information from the Richfield Historical Society
Linda McAlpine, West Bend, Wisconsin Member Since April 2011 Artist Statement I love taking nature photos, from inspiring landscapes to the intricate detail of a flower blossom, photos that reveal what the eye often misses in a casual glance.
I do not retouch or tamper with my photos, except to crop them when needed. If I take a picture of a rose and it has a blemish on it, I leave it untouched as I believe in capturing the perfect - and sometimes imperfect - beauty of nature, so with all of my photos, you are seeing nature, naturally.
Thank you for allowing me to share my photography.
