Description Pastel painting of the view from a window of Coombe Abbey. Originally a 12th Century Cistercian Abbey Hotel nestling in England's historic heartland in Warwickshire, Coombe Abbey Hotel has been restored to its former glory, and set within 500 acres of breathtaking parkland. The original of this piece is 14'X11' done in soft pastel on Wallis paper and is a study for a larger work (40'X30') painted in acrylic on canvas.
Kellam Brown, Plano, TX Member Since May 2007 Artist Statement For 40 years my profession has been software engineering and my avocation has been art. Now that is reversed. I began painting and "went pro" about 5 years ago. I've earned an AAA and am working on an MFA in illustration through the Academy of Art University in San Francisco (on-line). Since summer 2007 I've been teaching life drawing and pastel painting at the Art Institute in Dallas; I've found that I really enjoy teaching - at least in the college environment, and intend to make teaching my second career.
I participate in local and national art shows and competitions as well group and solo shows in the Dallas - Ft Worth area of Texas.
