Marlo Hartung, Seattle Member Since August 2007 Artist Statement Hi There, My name is Marlo Hartung. I grew up in Seattle and have lived here my whole life and I am so happy to be showing locally! Thank you for viewing my artwork. I am a Program Assistant by trade and an Artist by hobby, time permitting. I began creating art when I was very young. One of my earliest childhood memories is first grade Marlo sitting in an empty classroom obsessively working on a very intricate Christmas scene for a classroom book project. It turns out that my first grade teacher had to call my mother to inform her that I wasn’t getting any fresh air and exercise because I was skipping recess to draw…I’ve lightened up since then. The work you see now is a direct result of my day job. After spending 40 hours a week managing details, all I want to do is swath a canvas in bold and bright abstraction. My medium of choice is acrylic paint for its vibrancy and because I like that it requires me to paint quickly and not overthink what I am doing. I hope you enjoy my work and thank you again for viewing! Contact info: Marlo.firstname.lastname@example.org
