Description This abstract piece is based on a sketch from my very first public solo Belly Dance.I used a rich mix of orange, maroon, red and fuschia pink. I was inspired by the idea that all Belly Dance moves create circular patterns and are painted on some Mosque tiles. The colours have been kept earthy to reflect the connection between the dancer and Mother Earth.
Leanne Sanchez, London Member Since July 2007 Artist Statement I was born at home in Basildon or Basvegas as it's now affectionately known. I am inspired by Belly Dance, Flamenco, colour-all colour, texture, patterns, contrasts, decorative but practical design, designs with something to say.
I love Life Drawing. People are excellent! Fat or thin, tall, short, black or white, bring them on! When I think of an artist to aspire to I think of Degas.
If I attain that level of sketching in my lifetime i'd go to heaven with a huge grin on my face!
I have a BA (Hons) Knitted Textile Design but I don't have the patience for it anymore so I use mixed media so I can create my images faster.I design bespoke portraits of Belly Dancers at present and will be researching the influence of yoga on Belly Dance in the future.
I like to design eclectic peices that reflect my lifestyle, friends and family.
