DescriptionCustom illustration and poem for the Howiezine, a handmade collaboration of the HOW Design forums.Poem reads:AcrophobiaWings folded tightlyAgainst my body,My heart hammers in my chestLike a train in full motion. My head spins like a tornado.Forced to the edgeBy my suicidal nature,I finally unclench my eyesAnd stare into the abyss. But the abyssDoes not look back.I see insteadA magnificent view.Soft tufts of cottonFloat aimlessly about,Hovering overEmerald green meadowsAnd sapphire waters.I push hesitation aside,Step off the edgeAnd fallInto the winds embrace.Soaring high above the world,My fear shattersLike a nightmareCaught in mornings first light.2008 Nicholas J. Nicholas Nawroth, Kettering Member Since May 2007 Artist Statement About Nicholas J. Nawroth Nicholas J. Nawroth is a graphic designer and illustrator with 10 years of industry experience. He specializes in collateral materials, especially hi-end wine, microbrewery beers, and gourmet foods. He earned his design expertise by building an in-house graphic design department from the ground up for a local upscale grocery store chain.
Nicholas’ love of art began around age 12 with his discovery of comic books. While he wanted to become a comic book artist, destiny had other plans and he became a designer and illustrator instead. His muses are the moon, mythology, and music which inspire his dark, dreamlike illustrations and poetry.
In his spare time, Nicholas enjoys photographing architectural details, clouds, grave stones, and weathered objects. A serious Netflix addict, he spends many a weekend watching movies. He also spends a fair amount of time thinking about and eating cookies. Don’t worry he also walks a lot.
