Description This is an acrylic on Plexiglas painting from my new series 'Hyper Portraits'This new work series deals with the idea of multiple realities. I decided to create this series because of the desire to examine how humans deal with paranormal believes and situations in the 21st century. To create these drawings and paintings, I referenced various memories, which then brought about a series of questions regarding popular religious beliefs concerning the phenomena of apparitions. I began writing my thoughts on this matter, working more like a writer than a painter. I used my notes as conceptual material (they were heavily influenced by quantum theory, multi-dimensional realities, and my fascination with holograms). I then began to draw my notions on the matter. For these series I wanted to use colors that convey a sensation of fantasy, therefore I decided to use bright bold colors. I am particularly interested in the areas of the collective subconscious, mental hallucinations, and mass delusion; and because of this, I decided to create a body of work that would examine the effects of the phenomena on the human condition.
Jose Trujillo, Tucson, AZ USA Member Since September 2009 Artist Statement My name is Jose D. Trujillo, I was born in Guadalajara, Mexico, and I am the youngest of ten. At age nine, my parents brought me to the United States.
I became interested in the arts at a young age, and I made sure to always make time for them. Painting, music, and poetry played a major role in my life. I did not agree with the teaching methods of public schools, and I left to attend a local Catholic institute of theology. It was during this time that I began to focus more on a professional career in art. Since then, I have painted, sold, and represented my art in different venues including: solo exhibitions at The Arte Spazio Gallery in Tucson, AZ, The Supreme Justice Court in Tucson, AZ., as well as, a group exhibition at The World Fine Art Gallery in New York, NY. My work consists mainly of private commissions and themed collections. I am currently working on a body of work which deals with quantum theory and religious phenomena for a collection called Quantic Visions at The Cultural Exchange Art Gallery in Tucson, AZ (August 2009).
