Artist Statement I was born and grew up in Johannesburg, South Africa with a deep and curious love of Africa, it's wildlife, it's people and it's heart captivating places from an early age. Deeply believing that if there is any such thing as reincarnation, I was most definitely intertwined in this mysterious continent in a past life and so my love of Africa continues and pulses deeply through my veins and I am drawn to showing the world pieces of this awesome continent from my travels...
I am a self taught artist who grew up doing paintings with my mom from age 2 and have continued to do the odd one here and there between busy growing up and trying to "find my place" in the world. I attended Art College for 2 years and got my hands stuck into many different techniques and found that I very much enjoy working specifically with oils as well as giving photography a bash (which I have had absolutely no training in at all)
I am currently living in Kwa-Zulu Natal along the coastline in a small and beautiful village not far from the Great St. Lucia Wetland Park. I work at an Environmental Education Centre in the middle of a dune forest along the ocean and I am so grateful and privileged to live here and have access to so many places in the heart of the African bush right here on my doorstep...
I am really looking forward to sharing my images with you as well as taking creative feedback and suggestions to making this work for me. I have the passion, now give me the tools!!!
I am focused on trying to create pieces that speak to people whether that comes about in the form of instantaneous goosebumps down your body or just something that captivates your eye and sticks in your mind. Pictures with a story...
