Description While visiting friends in Southampton, Long Island this scene caught my eye. The two cats sat in silent anticipation of entry or a meal or both. The weathered porch, the red geraniums, and the reflective view in the glass panes evoked the peace I felt as a visitor from the city.
Melissa Bellows, Patterson, NY Member Since July 2008 Artist Statement WITH little formal education (high school, if you count that, was disappointing in it's lack of structure), I learned from 30 years of on the job training in illustration and page design for internationally-read publications.
Fine art projects on the side, for my own enjoyment, always provided creative stimulation. Some of the images in My First Gallery were done then. After 17 years of illustration, and 12 in graphic design, it was a natural progression to move to digital art.
My goal has been to make the digital paintings indistinguishable from my traditional art. Therefore, My First Gallery has a variety of images, including watercolor and pastel, as well as digital paintings. I feel each should be judged on the feelings they convey rather than the means used to achieve them.
