Description One of a series of apple daily paintings I did this past winter, this one shows three Gala apples with fabric and a plastic bag surrounding them. I like how the plastic bag makes a soft, sometimes translucent nest for the vivid apples.

Artist Statement I am an artist living and working in North Georgia; my full name is Susan Diefenthaler Kennedy. I specialize in traditional landscapes which evoke a gentle, lyrical feeling; the mountains, lakes, and shores of my native Georgia, as well as Edisto Island, South Carolina, and rural Pennsylvania are favored subjects.

Other specialties include still lifes in many colors, vivid florals and the occasional seascape.

I've been enjoying teaching oils in the North Atlanta area and teaching watercolors through my lulu.com store; you can find my e-books on watercolor by going to lulu.com and searching for "susankennedy". I've included lots of demos full of colorful photos of my paintings as they progress.

My work has received local and national awards, most notably in the Rocky Mountain National Watercolor competition; I have sold commissioned watercolor and oil paintings in the Atlanta area and on the internet for many years, both to private and corporate collectors. My representational style is largely self-taught, stemming from my childhood fascination with painting nature in painstaking detail.

I am currently teaching oils at the Cumming, Georgia Hobby Lobby on Mondays and Wednesdays, and oils and watercolor at The Etiquette School in Cumming, Georgia on Thursdays and Fridays. Check out the Demos and Classes page on my website, www.susankennedy.com , to see more details!
