Description Original photo of the statue of Atlas that stands in Rockefeller Center at Fifth Avenue in Manhattan. It was done by sculptor Lee Oscar Lawrie. Installed in 1937, the statue stands at 45 feet with Atlas being 15 feet. At the time some critics compared it to Mussolini with one critic saying it looked as Mussolini thought he looked. It is quite imposing and stands directly across Fifth Avenue from St. Patrick's Cathedral.
