Description This series is a play on words as Lynn takes the word cross to create three unusual pieces. Lynns fascination for the word crossword and how this word can be used as a verb, noun or adjective, led her to create three pieces in this series. Intrigued by the look of a real crossword puzzle, she incorporated the black & white scheme within the picture. Lynn researched the word to determine how she was going to create each picture.
Lynn Hathy, Lancaster, PA Member Since October 2010 Artist Statement I create my art by making use of common everyday shapes and objects. I enjoy discovering unique ways to combine bright and vibrant colors to create interesting designs. At an early age, I started painting landscapes and using oil paints. More recently I switched to acrylic paints. I enjoy creating intriguing works of art that draw the viewer in for a closer look. Some of my designs are purely decorative art either detailed with lavish designs or whimsical.
Talent Within I love to see the reactions from people who view my art. Especially when a piece speaks to them and they really enjoy the moment. Many times people will comment on how they can’t paint like that and how they don’t have any talent. I like to tell them that everyone has been given a talent or a gift. Mine happens to be painting. And no matter how small you think your gift is, there are limitless possibilities to use it. That’s why I like to take the common, everyday things like buttons, or numbers or old worn out furniture and open it up to its potential. If we let the ‘Master Artist’ who created us, show us the potentials that He has blessed us with, we too could become like little mini masterpieces!
I have a saying about life that goes like this…Work with persistent passion, focus on what inspires you, and explore all the possibilities in achieving your goals.
