Cameron Thompson, Camarillo Member Since September 2009 Artist Statement I'm 22 years old and living a humble life in southern California. Photography has given me the ability to enjoy and capture life as i see it regardless of my financial situation or daily struggles. I recently lost my mother to a rare disease in March of 2009, and she has always been my encouragement and inspiration in life. So i picked up a new camera and began apprenticing under my Father and Brother-in-law as an ameture/semi-pro photographer in hopes of one day being good enough to capture moments worthy of dedicating to her. My mom and I share a special love of all things sun. sunrises, sunsets, rays of sunlight, silhouettes and sunset portraits alike. The most memorable photos i have ever taken are sunsets and sunsrises shot specifically for her, but recently My dad made a great point about her being able to see through her "Father's eyes." She didn't just love sunsets because she saw the sun peeking through. she loved them because she saw the Son shining through. every moment that passed during the many beautiful sunsets and sunrises she witnessed, it was as if she could see a little hint o f Jesus and Heaven bursting through to welcome her, and so my goal while i still have the ability to stand/walk/talk/breathe or take pictures is to chase the Son with my heart and camera in hand. My parents are the kind of people who prove that Jesus doesnt just shine through clouds and sky, He shines through us, i hope one day to be someone who shines with that light.
Alot of my time is dedicated to paying rent and finding jobs and gigs wherever possible, surviving with my own two hands. But in my freetime i am an artist, dedicating every spare minute to embracing this beautiful world and capturing and sharing it.
