Description One of the things I love most about this painting is the freedom I felt in the brush strokes. Especially in the red paint at the top, the fuchsia paint around the heart on the right, and in the red paint on top of the white lines. I wanted to give different perspectives on the capacity our hearts have to love. The word 'love' has been collaged into the heart on the right multiple times. The heart in the center appears to be made of glass. Glass can be strengthened to withstand tremendous amounts of pressure, but it is stillinevitably destructible. Sometimes there is a fine line between a callous heart and a pliable one. The heart on the left represents the filters that we look through in relationships and situations. Among other things, our perspectives have been shaped through culture, time, and circumstances. The things that we allow our hearts to entertain will determine what filters are applied and the strength we have to reflect love back onto others.
Robin Winningham, Charlotte Member Since September 2015 Artist Statement I am a full-time artist painting with acrylic and Flashe vinyl paint. I enjoy creating abstract art because it heightens my senses and takes me outside of reality. Using color and light as inspiration, I usually don't start painting with an end result in mind. I enjoy how the look and feel of the painting can change (sometimes multiple times) before I feel that it is complete.
