Donna Ridgway, Vaughn, Mt Member Since March 2008 Artist Statement Born into a family that homesteaded on the Rocky Mountain Front, near Dupuyer, Mt, Donna spent her life ranching. She naturally grew to love the animals in her care, and now she chooses them for her subjects.
She has two children and some grandchildren and now lives with her husband Robert at Vaughn, Mt.
Her studio sits out in the horse pasture where she has close proximity to her animals and home.
She and Robert love to go out on photo shoots, looking for material for paintings and she also sells her photos as reference to artists.
In 2008, Donna was invited to show her work at the Grand National Celebration of Western Art, (an international show), during the Grand National Rodeo at the Cow Palace in San Francisco, CA. She's also a participating artist in the huge (20X16 foot, 238 artists) mural project, Le Cadeau du Cheval.
Her painting Battle of the Sexes won First Place Pastel Division at the Montana State Fair, 2007. She displayed her work during the Charlie Russell art show in Great Falls with the Studio 706 at the History Museum, 2006 and 2007.
She's exhibited with the Newton, Kansas, Carriage Factory Gallery, (where she won a second place cash award) and was invited to exhibit at the History Museum in Great Falls, Mt. April show, 2007.
Her work was exhibited in New Port Richie, Florida with WWAO, at the Progress Energy Art Gallery, spring of 2007.
Donna is a member of the Equine Art Guild, The Canine Art Guild, and World Wide Women Artists Online. She participates fully in member shows, monthly with WWAO and quarterly with EAG and CAG.
Her work juried into the Western States Horse Expo, 2003 and 2004.
In 2004 and 2005 she was invited to show at the Montana Artist's on Display in Butte, Mt.
In 2002 her painting Heart and Soul won first place novice division in the International EAG juried show.
