Ralph Martens, Surrey Member Since July 2009 Artist Statement Ralph Martens started down the road of visual arts only recently. Starting with photography in 2004 and then drawing, painting, and digital enhancement in 2007. "I am new to this and mainly do it for the enjoyment it brings me and hopefully others. If I can bring a person to stop and ponder about something in one of my prints and get some sort of thought or feelings from it then I must have done something right. If everybody just walks on by then I have done something wrong"
With a background in construction and facility management Ralph pursued his visual art interests "for the enjoyment and escape from the day to day stresses that go with my career. I do it for fun and when someone buys one of my prints its just a big bonus".
Ralph is an avid fisherman and loves the outdoors and uses this as a theme for much of his work. Many of his prints start out as drawings, acrylic paintings, and then end up digitized to enhance colors and manipulate details of the work.
Ralph Martens is a Canadian residing in the Vancouver area of British Columbia.
