Rachel Luciani, Washington, D.C. Member Since March 2011 Artist Statement Rachel was born in Burbank, California. She began studying art formally in high school and went on to major in studio art at California State University, Channel Islands. While in college she studied abroad for one year in Florence, Italy at the Accademia di Belle Arti di Firenz where she developed her unique “paper painting” style of collage, using posters from local Italian events. She was the Associate Director of CSUCI’s downtown art gallery and also served as an intern and gallery assistant at the Sylvia White Gallery in Ventura. She graduated with her B.A. in Fine Art from CSUCI in the spring of 2009. Rachel now lives in an up-and-coming arts community in Washington D.C. where she continues to create her paper paintings in addition to fulfilling her responsibilities as Vice President of Marketing and Business Development of Volunbeer.com.
