Norman Rawn, Toronto Member Since May 2011 Artist Statement I am best known for being a digital art and photography enthusiast. My interest in artistic expression came at a young age, and through various exposure to the artistic community I openly expressed my interest in pursuing art in any way possible.
My work is a combination of digital painting, photography and photo-manipulation. I have branched to several art styles and genres as I have constant inspiration for creating art.
I take a great pleasure in other peoples artwork, It is a constant inspiration for me and it also helps me to improve my own skills and interests. I find the creative and imaginative nature of artist to be a constant inspiration and intrigue.
Many of my skills came early in life, but that is not to degrade the excellent work my art teachers have had in honing my skills and opening my eyes to new ways of applying my raw skills.
I have always found the digital art style most interesting. I have always been proficient in computer applications, and this has given me a unique appreciation for the effort and talent that is put into digital art, and art in general.
Following an interest in 3D Modelling and Animation, I enrolled at Humber College in Toronto. After a year of study and application, I learned a lot about 3D modelling techniques. Unfortunate however, my interest wavered after what I have now come to accept was a case of severe depression. This forced me to end the pursuit of a career in that field.
During this difficult time, I tried again to follow an art career, by studying again at Humber, for a degree in Visual and Digital Art. By this time, I had learned a great deal about what would become my greatest asset, Photoshop. In the time I spent in Visual and Digital Art, I learned even more techniques and styles to create compelling artwork. I attempted to finish Visual and Digital Art degree program, but once again succumb to the crippling effect of what was now a long term case of depression.
Now I attempt to pursue art at my own pace, recovering quickly from this devastating sickness.
With my current skill sets, and a constantly evolving skill base, I hope to learn from other professional artist, how to truly capture the glorious images transpiring in my thoughts.
