Description Four colorful bonsai trees with digital texture. My miniature bonsai painting given a pop art treatment. The original painting is 1x2 and acrylic on canvas.Bonsai is a traditional Japanese organic art form. Trees are grown in low sided trays or pots and their growth is kept under strict control. The purpose of bonsai is for contemplation and appreciation by the viewer. For the grower, the joy of creation and satisfaction of watching it slowly take shape over the years. These little trees if properly cared for can live for generations but this will vary from tree to tree.
Shawna Rowe Member Since July 2012 Artist Statement I grew up in a creative family who loved photography, music, art and random hiking adventures. That helped me to develop a love for nature and artistic expression early on. I've never limited myself to one particular medium but I do favor graphic shapes, bold colors and whimsical style. Whatever the medium, I try to include some or all of those elements in my work.
My family has always been a big inspiration and they feature in a series of satirical cartoons that I've done just for fun over the years. Each year I make a new cartoon to celebrate each of my daughter's birthdays. I've also made my own greeting cards for family members over the years.
Lately, I've been making detailed magazine collages. Each one is made of 100% recycled paper cut into tiny shapes and carefully applied much like paint onto canvas. It's an art-form that requires a lot of time and patience but I love this unusual way of creating. Thank you for visiting my gallery!
