Description href='http://bighugelabs.com/flickr/onblack.php?id=306582484&size=Large'>large on black. This a 15 minute exposure of star trails above one of the main pools at Bosque del Apache National Wildlife Refuge. I took this when it basically first looked fully dark outside and I was still able to catch color from the remains of the earlier sunset. The color is as it came out of the camera with noise reduction applied. I was amazed at my luck in catching an Iridium Flare in the upper left! You can tell the hotter stars by their streak's blue color, with cooler ones coming in more red.
Michael Menefee, Fort Collins, Colorado Member Since March 2007 Artist Statement Welcome to my online gallery space & thank you for visiting-- I hope you enjoy my images.
I have long had a passion for creating fine art photographs. A large chunk of the work I do could be labeled as nature photography and really it's no surprise. Conservation biology is a central area of interest for me, which is reflected in the subjects I chose. Photography can pair well with birding and botany, two other activities I am passionate about.
Often with my photography I hope to evoke the same sense of childhood wonder and appreciation for nature that experiencing it first-hand instills in me. I hope you find my images to be a fun diversion.
