Christopher Weck, Pittsburgh Member Since December 2008 Artist Statement Exploring around our country’s cities and countryside, where the natural beauty of our beginning is exposed to view like layers in the stars in our skies. I am moved by these scenes, and drawn into them with awe and fascination. The immense scale of our endless beauty and opportunity consumption awaits within each of us; for me it’s consistent feature is a staggering complexity.
The beauty of nature and our cities holds a seductive kind of childlike mentality. Collectively we are existing in a vast and sustainable act of life, but we each are anonymous and no one is in charge or accountable for the consequences.
My hope is that these photographs can serve as portals to a kind of culture we can all escape into. It’s a reminder of all the beauty that lives around us, lets us know that we are awake.
“So many of our dreams at first seem impossible, then they seem improbable, and then when we summon the will, they soon become inevitable.” Christopher Reeve
