Description Pictured is a cliff along the Calvados coast in France. I believe that the point that extends furthest out into the ocean, in the center of the image, is La Pointe Du Hoc, which was scaled by U.S. Army Rangers on D-Day. This picture was taken from the end of a pier that juts out from Omaha beach. The extreme western end of Omaha beach can be seen on the left side of the photo.
