Michael Van Name, NJ Member Since June 2009 Artist Statement At the age of 12, I got my first 35mm camera (the rugged K1000) and took my first darkroom courses at summer camp. My parents let my put in my own darkroom a few years later and I started working with medium format. In college, I took much more advanced photography courses as my humanities elective in college, finally making the digital switch a few years ago.
I would call myself and "obsessed amateur" photographer.
I still feel that black and white images bring a different perspective to the image, striking deeper emotions, however, one cannot dismiss the power of a color sunset or blue sky, so, I tend to do mostly black and white, with the occasional color photo, with obvious influence from Ansel Adams.
I'll make all the images available as straight up prints when I get some time, however, if you want one specifically, please let me know and I will get it up sooner.
