Description Taken from the tower on the Old Town side of Charles Bridge, this photo shows the bustle of foot traffic crossing the Vltava river. Dating from the 15th century, the Charles Bridge connects the Old Town and Prague Castle. The castle can be seen in the distance, with the St. Vitus Cathedral featuring prominently in the landscape.
Jasmine Fledderjohann, Utrecht Member Since December 2011 Artist Statement Growing up in Anchorage, Alaska, I developed an appreciation for beautiful scenery early. When I was 16 years old, I took an interest in photography, which allowed me to capture and share some of the beautiful images I had always appreciated. On my first trip to Europe, in 2004, I visited Rome and Paris. Having an opportunity to photograph the exquisite historical buildings in these cities only increased my interest in photography, and these days I always try to carry a camera with me. In 2005 I began my graduate work at Penn State, and in 2008 I had a wonderful opportunity to visit West Africa to collect data for my dissertation. The dry red clay dirt, the verdant landscapes, and the haunting, aged buildings inspired a plethora of photographs. During my graduate studies I also visited Barcelona, Madrid, Seville, Granada, and Lisbon. After finishing my degree I moved to Utrecht, the Netherlands, and I've had ample opportunities to travel around the Netherlands, England, Belgium, and Poland. I look forward to sharing new images as I continue to travel, and I have plans to visit Germany in the spring.
