Description Driving quite a distance north out of Jackson Hole, WY after sunset you'll see this type of scene in late winter. This was taken in early March in between major weather fronts that brought much snow to Jackson that year.
Jerry Patterson, Culpeper, VA Member Since March 2010 Artist Statement By profession, I have gone from IT to the exciting world of computer forensics. Today, as a forensic computer examiner I have to travel often. So much that during my travels I've decided to take my cameras along and when time permits photograph what I can in the cities visited.
I have been involved with digital photography since 2003. During September 2003, after my third trip to Jackson Hole, WY, the home of the beautiful Teton mountains, I fell in love with the beauty of this area and wanted to capture it in digital form.
Upon my subsequent visits to Jackson Hole, WY, the Tetons and surrounding areas, I travel from northern Yellowstone National Park to the Wind River Range 75 miles southeast of Jackson, WY to photograph Square Top Mountain reflecting in the western most Green River Lake in Bridger National Forest.
In visiting this area from the middle of the bitter cold winter to the spring wildflower season in late June and early July to fall in late September, the most gorgeous time of the year there, I have faced the challenges of the weather and I have photograph when it's well below zero to hot and dry time of the year in August and early September..
My equipment includes a Nikon D300s. With the Nikon I have a range of lenses from a Sigma 10-20mm and Tokina 12-24mm, Nikkor 18-50mm and a Sigma 70-300mm. For a tripod I have the Manfrotto Pro 055XPROB. Filterwise I have a range of Singh-Ray, B+W filters to include graduated neutral density (GND) and circular neutral density (ND) filters. As a backup camera, I use a Canon 60D for now until Canon replaces its infamous 5D Mark II this year.
Musicwise, I listen to the Dreamscapes and New Age on www.sky.fm. And for a nice change, I love to listen to the Gypsy Kings and Duende Cameron.
