Description Walking the DC Mall on a pleasant June evening, this was but one of many scenes that came before my eyes. At the Lincoln Monument a young man, amidst shadow and sunlight, is gazing towards the Potomac and Arlington.
Michael Stadius, Seattle Member Since September 2006 Artist Statement OK...so I have discovered that I do wonder...and I do care (you would have had to cross paths with my prior Bio to really understand that comment...) if images I have captured are of interest to others. I have learned significantly from comments posted by fellow Imagekinders to my site...as well as from additional other professionals in the past year. For this I am very grateful.
I photograph to stop time; to allow one to see carefully what has just been seen. Usually, this requires clear focus and resolve with some element of serendipity to create a really interesting image. Occasionally, what has just happened (or what is meant to be seen) is less clear, perhaps not in focus, but just as important none the less. When whimsy strikes, a real moment becomes artificial (does this mean “highly edited?”) but elements of reality and fancy might still coalesce in meaningful ways. So I capture pictures and present them here for others to see and perhaps to enjoy or at least contemplate.
