Jocelyn Gardner, Morin-Heights Member Since October 2009 Artist Statement As long as I can remember, I was always fascinated by the living things, big and small. It was only at the end of my degree in Biology that I chose to develop a hidden talent and explore many facets of the visual arts, be it professionally (animation, video, illustration) or personally (phtography, sculpture, traditional or digital painting). As a human being, I am myself a work of art in constant evolution. Why I do what I do?
The surprise and discovery that awaits me at the corner of improvised gestures are the delicacies that are constantly renewed when I create. I rarely know the direction it will take me, leaving me charmed by the gentle tension between the fluidity of intuition and the control of movement. Self-taught pure and hard, I'm always at the mercy of my inexperience. I take pleasure in being surprised by the mystery of the incarnation of the forms, colors and light, of what's being channeled through me. In abstraction or realism, my main muses are primarily the beauty of natural elements and the female human body. In both cases, it is a relationship of love that comes alive and inspires me.
