I was born in Syracuse, NY in 1966. My love of art started as soon as I was old enough to start making marks that meant something.

I went to Swain School of Design, New Bedford, MA, which is now the art department of U-Mass, Dartmouth (just outside of New Bedford) from 1984-1989. My teachers there included Profs. Sig Haines, Jackie Martinez, and David Smith. I formed an idea of what I wanted to express artistically with their guidance. I owe an especial debt to David Smith, who took me under his wing as a Junior, though he was the Senior painting instructor.

I graduated with a B.F.A. in 1989. I took further classes at both Onondaga Community College, with designer James Cody, in 1992, and Syracuse University, with Prof. Jerome P. Witkin, in 1993. In the summer of 1989, and again in the spring of 1990 and the summers of 1992 and 1994, I visited Dublin, Ireland. I sold work in Grafton St. - the great meeting-place for the arts in Dublin. I also played music. I took illustration at Metropolitan School for the Arts in Syracuse, with designer Alberta Pepin, in 1996. I have some computer illustration background as well - I took QuarkExpress and Adobe Photoshop in 1997 at Onondaga Community College with James Fletcher. An interesting note to my artistic development is that I was an artists’ model during this time. I also spent much of it in dance.

I first hung my college and post-college work in the Syracuse Public Library. There was also a gallery called Lilac Art & Antiques in Syracuse, where I won a 4th-place honorable mention for my work. The library in Syracuse hosts regular art competitions; I also received an honorable mention for a pair of paintings there. Another prize was a 3rd-Place yellow ribbon from the New York State Fair for a 3-dimensional piece. Interestingly, I came in just behind my former 3-D teacher from Nottingham, Charles Wallowitz. After I had won the prize, it occurred to me that the concept had actually come to me in his class, several years earlier. This was in the years from 1989-1993.

I moved away from 1994-1996, to New Albany, PA, where I helped my mother with a used book store and worked with rare books. I then moved back and my work was shown at the “Underground” art studio/gallery in the basement of the New Times newspaper building in Syracuse in 1997. There was a review of my work in this paper. I had extensive showings at the Gemini Art Gallery on S. Salina St., also in Syracuse. This was between 1997-1999.

I moved to Washington, DC in 1999; there, my work hung in Signal 66 Gallery in 1999. I also showed extensively with the Capitol Hill Arts Workshop from 2000-2003.
I moved to Sayre, PA in January 2004; I have had work for sale at the gallery 222 Broad Street, North Waverly, NY, owned by Donna Verguson, in 2005-6. My work was hung as a 1-woman show in July of 2007 at Sense & Serendipity in Dushore, PA, owned by Dan Curry. I am also working on commissions.

Most recently I moved to Elmira, NY and I am working on a collaborative illustration project, as well as my own work in the same area.

As of January 2009, I had a show at the “Acoustic Caf” in Waverly, NY.

My most recently accepted piece was a Fimo sculpture called “La Luna”, which is currently being exhibited in The Main Street Gallery in Groton, NY.
