DescriptionThis painting is an original work by Damian Smith, Australian born artist. His work is best described as a fusion of pop culture and realism. Darkest Night is the final illustration in a series of 5 paintings. This painting depicts the centre of the story Scarlette, once a young blonde haired girl named Destiny who has grown to become the dark haired girl named Scarlette. Once youthfull and optimistic, the years have taught her to be alone and afraid and though Scarlette has finally made her way home through the night the once youthful scene has become dark and ruined with signs of destruction.
Damian Smith, Brisbane Member Since August 2011 Artist Statement I am currently based in Brisbane Australia working as an Illustrator / Artist. Having studied Illustration I enjoy bringing the story telling element into my paintings. I draw emotion through my paintings in the same way comic art is used. My recent focus in subject matter has been in a few different directions – Story telling Illustration paintings with an anime influence. Glamour photography influenced portrait paintings. And Illustration portrait works where I convey a certain mood using connotations of colour and subject matter with minimal context. I currently exhibit orginals in galleries and cafe type environments in Brisbane. My priority with my art has always been to create affordable modern art for every one to enjoy.
