Description Death of a Bluebird was inspired by something that happened in 2004. I heard birds outside my door, and looking through my French door glass windows I saw Bluebirds flying back and forth, causing mischief, and molesting other birds, as they like to do. It was a rowdy crowd out there in the sky and the trees. I turned back to continue what I was doing when I heard a loud bang on my door that I had just looked out from. I saw a Bluebird lying on the ground right below the window. He was sprayed out, his wings unfolded, his tail feathers spread like a fan and his head was up in the air with his chest out. His beak was open and he was gasping for air. It was a pitiful sight. I grabbed my camera and took a picture. I felt bad about taken photos of this dying bird. I knew he was dying. It was quite sad. I know millions of birds die every day and what’s another bird you may say. Well that wasn’t really the point. As I looked and watched for about 1 minute or two, he gasped for air, not willing to die. His eyes wide open, suddenly his head fell lifeless to the side. I thought, we do have much in common with this, to most, insignificant bird. We go about your lives every day and rarely do we think it could be the last day, the last hour, and the last minute of our life. We do things that are unkind and we expect that there will always be time to apologize. Here was my Bluebird, one minute flying l like a wild bird, being who he is and 90 seconds later he was dead. It seemed very tragic. What would animals, what would we do if we knew the exact moment of our death?

Quality Reproductions from my Original Paintings in Oil, Watercolor or Acrylics. I was born in Alsace France and from childhood on, I had Art and a Love for Nature in my blood. After moving to the Unites States I became a full time artist with collectors from all over the world. My roots are in impressionism. The style I developed comes from studies of the masters of Impressionism to the great trailblazers of modern art like Picasso. Some of my favorites are Nicolai Fechin & Van Gogh as well as Picasso, who could never be put in to a nice little box. From them I learned to follow my own drum beat and never stagnate but always start each painting as a new adventure. You won't see cookie cutter paintings here. Each painting is unique. ~Ginette
