Artist Statement GIFTED DESIGNER, FINE ARTIST & WORLD PEACE VISIONARY

Donald Thornton, aka "The Art Angel Don" is a Marketing Consultant & Sr. Art Director. The Jackson Family Foundation’s mission and vision include plans to establish a "Jackson Family Museum" while "Promoting Education, Global Peace, Love & Unity".

Don took up Commercial Art at Akron Central-Hower where he graduated in 1973 with a 3.8 GPA along with winning the "Craftsmanship Award" for most outstanding Senior Graphic Designer. Arguably one of the most gifted all-around fine artists, illustrators, graphic designer and webmasters in the world, Art Director, Don Thornton has been creating incredible visual images for well over 40 years.

Don earned a full scholarship to play basketball at Fairmont State University in Fairmont West Virginia in 1973 where he majored in Fine Arts and was considered by his Instructors to be the most gifted college fine arts major on campus. Don won several awards during his career and took "Best of Show" during an all-campus “Fine Arts Competition” as a freshman while competing against Senior Art Majors and Graduate Students.

After college, Don continued his art career as he worked for several graphic design studios in Akron, Ohio. He moved to California in 1990 to further pursue his graphic arts career during which time he created several charitable events and philanthropic campaigns beneficial to society.

Don founded “Don't Give Up! Incorporated” in November of 1993, of which during its existence was a very popular Los Angeles Human Crisis Organization that launched the "Gift for Life Project" in Support of Children with AIDS.

By way of his "Gift for Life Project / Let’s Stamp Out AIDS Movement", Don was able to partner with the U.S. Postal Service, Elizabeth Taylor Foundation, the Elton John Foundation, the Magic Johnson Foundation and the Children's Hospital Los Angeles Children's AIDS Center on behalf of Youth with AIDS Awareness Projects launched during the middle 1990's.

Mr. Thornton continues his involvement in the Humanities in helping to "Build World Peace" in particular with the Founding of his "World Peace Plans Project" located online at; www.WorldPeacePlans.com. He is also actively involved in establishing a "Go Hard 4 Peace Movement".

As a visual artist still actively involved with the entertainment industry, Don takes great pride in helping to pay tribute to the epic legacy of "Michael Jackson" and preserving the historic legacy of the entire "Jackson Family" with some of his works in 2024 and beyond.
