Description Camel ride into the Sahara Desert, Morocco. The sun is to the right, casting a shadow of the camels and its riders to the left. The shadows are elongated because the camel are on top of a dune and the shadows go down the dune creating an illusion of distorted size more than usual.
Joshua Manring, Naples, FL Member Since August 2011 Artist Statement Josh Manring travels to unexpected corners of the globe, capturing rich stories through images to reveal the dramatic intersection between humans and nature. Since 1998, Josh has explored over 50 countries and has published five photographic books.
Josh’s passions for travel and photography merged on his first visit to Western Europe, following his graduation from Rollins College with a BA in International Relations. This trip laid the foundation for a lifetime of adventure and documentary photography, but it was a yearlong expedition to South America and Africa that compelled Josh to share his stories. These stories, as interpreted through images, are the purest reflection of his travel experiences.
Through photography, Josh not only shares his journeys, but also hopes to inspire others to explore their own passions. Visit JourneymanGallery.com for more information.
Josh is currently working on the photographic documentary Wild Gulf Coast, part of the Captivated Series. His next major photographic endeavor will be Asia and India. His ambition is to experience and document at least one new country a year.
