Description This is a print of an original hand-lettered watercolor illustration by Alisa Proctor featuring 'The Desiderata'. Written in 1927 by Max Ehrmann, these are truly words to live by. Inspirational and colorful with a bit of whimsy thrown in for good measure. Perfect for a dorm room, office, or meditation corner.
Alisa Proctor, Newport Beach, CA Member Since November 2006 Artist Statement I enjoy exploring the emotions of longing, loneliness, nostalgia and yearning, while finding connections to our past, our family history, and for the romance and recollection of days-gone-by. My inspiration comes from a love of vintage imagery and old photos, motherhood, family life, genealogy, travel, folk art, mythology, icons, and the feminine/goddess mystique. I occasionally dabble in quirkiness, sarcasm, and irony.
My acrylic figurative paintings tend toward a vintage esthetic, with a sophisticated and contemporary folk-art feel. My mixed media pieces build a narrative with layers of ephemera, acrylic paint, ink, gouache, and charcoal.
I live in California, and enjoy collecting experiences, folk art, and textiles from around the world.
