Description Left Side of a two panel drawing. Drawn by a four-year old autistic artist, Kai Ovalle, using Crayola markers on newsprint. The dot on the upper left corner is when he gets really into a spot, and sticks the marker on the same spot for a minute or two.
Kai Ovalle, New York Member Since July 2008 Artist Statement I am four years old, and I have PDD-NOS, a spectrum of autism.
I love to draw with washable Crayola markers and Sharpies. I also do watercolors.
I love to draw on newsprint, backside of copy paper with mistakes on front, and backsides of children's book covers...
My mom says she wanted to draw like me when she was in art school.
She thinks she has a long way to go in reaching the level of mastery I have in drawing. She says I'm the best "naive" or "outsider" artist ever. My drawings remind her of abstract expressionism, surrealism, cubism, etc. I don't know what they are, but she gets really excited about my drawings and puts them up all over the living room.
You will help me and my parents greatly by purchasing one of my artworks.
