Although I've been painting since my age was measured in months (my mom, a toll painter, would give me scraps of wood from her projects, a cup of water, and a brush for me to "paint" with....) I really became serious with it in '99 during my last years of high school. In 2001, I was accepted to Montserrat College of Art on scholarship with a concentration in painting.

Sagittarius Gallery, my business, was started in April of 2003 and since then I have been blessed to have over 2000 patrons on 6 continents. Although I primarily sell my work through the net, I have shown at several galleries including at the World Monument Fund Gallery / Prince George Ballroom and Rogue Space in Manhattan, Karin Sanders Fine Art in Sag Harbor, NY, Robert Dowling Studios and Gallery in Bangor, ME, as well as a solo show at the Gallery and Grille in Newburyport, MA. My work has been published in ArtNEWS, American Art Collector, and The World's Finest Erotic Art vol. 2, has been licensed by McGaw Publishing, and I am a listed artist with Art in America. I have licesned my work for print on home goods through Dianoche Designs and have put my work on clothing with the help of Art of Where. My mash up painting dubbed "Vincent van NO" has been featured everywhere from Huffington Post Arts to Buzzfeed and even garnered a shout out from George Takei, and I have to say - as a Trekkie and self-professed geek, it was just aces. My first love though is my figurative work.

I concentrate primarily on the female nude figure to convey my vision, but regularly explore a variety of subjects such as florals, urban cityscapes, abstracts, and landscapes. In the past I had worked primarily with palette knife and oil, but have come to a point where almost anything is fair game. I have a fondness lately for enamels, ink, and oil, all together. I even use black light responsive paint when the time is right. I work out of my Scotia, NY home studio and welcome studio visits by appointment.

And in case you've made it this far and wonder how to say my name, it's pronounced just like the continent.

About the artist

Artist Statement
Form, color, motion. For 12 years I have been a full time artist and in every moment I have sought to convey my unique female perspective through bold color, movement and fluidity of the paint, and a predominantly female nude subject as my vehicle for expression. Through the utilization of various media I work through the night when much of the world around me is fast asleep to convey my vision.

I have always been fascinated with the female figure as subject matter in art but it wasn't until I was pregnant with my son that I embraced the feminine form to speak for me during a time that I felt I had lost my voice. 12 years later and like myself, the work has evolved. There has always been a push and pull with my work as if the painting is sentient and bends me to its will at times, and through this I learn. Some call these "happy accidents", but I call it collaboration.

The work is a constant exploration into what it is to be female, and what it is to have a voice in a sea of billions, and I don't intend to be quiet.
