Description 1964, near Cairo and the famous pyramids at Giza. Carved in the tomb are the images of two men embracing. The men are not of noble decent but highly reguarded in the palace at that time. They were chief manicurists to the king. This piece had to be done. This piece was done from images of the actual tomb wall. I wanted to show 'coming out of the past' in this piece so I brought the stone to life in it and called it embrace. The hieroglyphs on the piece say 'Embrace'. It was the first of it's kind to be found. The names of these men were Niankhkhnum and Khnumhotep. The original size is 21x31 in colored pencil.
Keith McDowell, Los Angeles, CA Member Since January 2008 Artist Statement Talents are in the eye of the beholder. So is beauty. Whether the canvas is an art board or a human being, I love rendering personal beauty and image.
My artwork has been featured on ShowTime, TV and in film, shows at Universal Studio City Walk's Hard Rock Cafe in Studio City, the famous lounge Broadner's in Los Angeles and for private events.
My portraits capture essence. I strives to capture the hidden biographical nuances by looking intuitively. Working to produce a lasting personal revelation yet still keeping the photo realistic quality in the image. Sometimes it's like opening Pandora's box.
