DescriptionRaw emotions of life.100% of the NET proceeds of the sales of the prints will be donated to RESOLVE – The National Infertility Association. I painted this particular piece, 2003 while struggling with my personal journey through infertility. We had just completed an unsuccessful round of an infertility treatment, and had suffered a pregnancy loss the year prior. My emotions were very raw, as I struggled to pick up the pieces and give myself strength and hope move forward. Although my story ended on a rare, but happy note (I had my first child in Fall of 2010, and expecting another in Fall of 2011), I have not forgotten the long, 11+ year difficult journey and would like to help raise awareness and support for others who are suffering with infertility and loss. In honor of National Pregnancy and Infant Loss Remembrance Day, which takes place on October 15th I will Donate 100% of the NET proceeds of the sales that I receive for the print “With Child” to RESOLVE – The National Infertility Association. RESOLVE is a Nonprofit 501(c)3 Organization that “promotes reproductive health and to ensure equal access to all family building options for men and women experiencing infertility or other reproductive disorders.” For more information about this organization please visit: http://www.resolve.org/about/
Amy Yosmali, Cincinnati, OH Member Since August 2011 Artist Statement Amy Yosmali, Artist
Amy Yosmali, a native of Greater Cincinnati has been an art lover all her life, but it wasn’t until 2001 that she began to explore the visual arts, especially painting, as a medium of self-expression. While her initial artistic endeavors were in music, she now considers herself both a student and practitioner of the visual arts, especially contemporary abstract art. In her work as a professional Web designer and Computer Instructor, she strives to successfully combine the utilitarian aspects of art with the purely aesthetic. Amy sells her art and maintains a studio at Essex Studios in Cincinnati, where she continues to experiment with new forms and techniques.
As a contemporary abstract artist, I feel that my passion for expressing myself emotionally is best conveyed through the imagery resulting from the instrumentation of colors, brushstrokes and movement on the blank canvas before me. Vibrant colors and action are important features of my art and I like to incorporate acrylics with metallic qualities to add depth, dimension and movement to my works. Much like a musician reacts to her surroundings and the moment, resulting in certain musical elements standing out and connecting with the audience – my paintings react to the nuances of their surrounding environments, inviting the viewer to connect with an ever changing perspective to the complexity of this expression.
