Artist Statement Born in 1974 - first pony in the back yard by 1978 - That's all it took to hook me in to horses growing up. What's the next best thing to owning one? Well drawing one of course.... so I did. And continued to do so throughout my early years.

I considered several art schools after graduating, but decided they were not for me. I chose to keep my art a hobby as opposed to a career. I was afraid that once it became my 'job' to do it, I wouldn't get as much enjoyment or satisfaction out of it.

There is a deep, compelling, romantic side to me.... I haven't learned to express that on canvas yet..... lucky for you! So, moving on, I love the pure character and raw personality of animals and I thrive on the challenge of portraying those qualities through my art. Honesty, loyalty, truth and even nobility... all wrapped up in unique, furry packages. I am inspired by beauty, detail, contrast, and emotion and I believe that it is not necessary to speak (and better for most) to express these attributes. The eyes ARE the windows to the soul... or lack thereof :)
