Description The original subject of Female Figure 3 was a girl I knew who enjoyed regularly posing for me. For this image, she was kneeling on a bed with black checked Nautica sheets. How I worked with her for this image was to make a series of photographs and sketches, then a rough watercolor sketch, and finally an abstract painting. As with many of my paintings, Female Figure 3 features a female form with a strong, Fauvist use of bold color. Stylization, allure, composition, and design are a major part of my paintings. Major influences on my work include Andre Derain, Paul Gauguin, Henri Matisse, Tom Wesselmann, Vincent Van Gogh, Ryu Young Do, Geoffrey Humphries, John Piper, John Sidman, Pablo Picasso, and Gustav Klimt. Female Figure 3 in its original is an acrylic painting on canvas 23.5 inches x 31 inches.
