Description This SP is a physical representation of what happens to me when i spend too much time in my head, focused on things in the past or things in the future. When i lose sight of the present, i fold in on myself, mentally, and my thoughts become toxic and distorted, my emotions darken…
ABOUT THIS IMAGE: I don’t remember what type of film i shot this with, i threw a dark sheet up against the wall in my hallway, dragged my halogen lamp into the hallway and lit myself from one side and photographed myself using a self-timer shutter release. I took hundreds of pictures in this pose, which is a yoga stretch i do when warming up for my workout. The variances in each pose were subtle but i wanted to make sure i had plenty of options to chose from i really wanted to get the lighting and posing just right.
This some of you may recognize, it is very similar to the image, “Contortion”. This was shot as part of the same series. I liked the lighting and pose in this photograph, just a little better than the previous one. So in a way, i resurrected, “Contortion” from the archives and gave it a new name, new meaning.
About Me: I am a self-taught photographic artist. My art explores my internal landscapes, like... survivor issues, spirituality and sensuality. Much of my work is comprised of self-portraits. My intent with my creations is to be one of the connecting threads in the universal fabric we share. A detailed biography and resume can be viewed here: https://www.behance.net/jaedadewalt/resume
