Lara Goins, High Point Member Since May 2009 Artist Statement I'm an amateur photographer since I've only been seriously taking photos for a year. I really don't count all of those childhood years that I "borrowed" my mom's camera until she hid it from me. She quickly grew tired of never being able to take pictures because I had already used up the whole roll of film. LOL
I love taking photos of nature and just different aspects of everyday life. To capture an unusual view of an ordinary thing is my goal at this point in my journey. I tend to avoid taking photos of people simply because they scare me. LOL Not really, ok, maybe a little--but it's actually the idea of screwing up a picture that someone wants that bothers me and I'm just not to that point. Maybe I'll move more towards portraits one day but for now I'll stick to terrorizing my husband, kids, and anything that I can get away with shooting. LOL
There's so much that I need to learn, but I'm enjoying every single minute even when there are only mistakes in every picture. But I'm hopeful that one day I will advance enough to leave my career as an ER nurse behind and explore the possibilities within the photography world full time.
I'm a mom to 3 boys, 1 girl, and we are expecting another (and last) boy this fall. I'm married to the love of my life and Thank God every day for the blessings that I have.
Without the encouragement (and prodding-literally) from my husband, I never would have touched a DSLR. He has more talent behind the camera than I could ever dream of having and yet he faithfully and patiently stands behind me and my photos. He even lets me "borrow" his lenses without uttering a word and never rolls his eyes when I ask the most basic, idiotic questions.
Lee--Thank you for being you and never forget that you are my heart and I love you.
