Description This unique work combines influences from many cultures. The centerpiece is a Mask from Gabon, a country in Western Africa. The original mask is in the collection of The Staadliche Museum of Berlin, Germany and dates from circa 1900. I've used my artistic liberty and added a Byzantine inspired cross to the top of the piece. The background consists of the everpresent swirling patterns which I've adopted as part of my creative ' language '. the swirls are a wonderful inheritance from Klimt and Van Gogh. This work was completed on August 14, 2009. The original belongs to my brother, Joel.
