During my 30-stay in Ireland in the spring of 2006, I was inspired to visit the fishing village of Killybegs, County Donegal by listening to Tommy Makem's song, "The Boys of Killybegs." Killybegs is a beautiful, ancient village within a sort of cove on Ireland's northwest coast. The entire village is dedicated in honor of the Egyptian saint, Catherine of Alexandria; a holy well in Catherine's honor is located within walking distance of the village, in the shadow of a house ruin known as "Bishop's Manor" atop a hill overlooking the harbor. On the other side of the village, I also found a Neolithic court tomb atop another hill. Clearly, this locality has quite a long history of human habitation...
