My abstract studies in reflection, pattern and shadow grew out of my fascination with serendipity in our visual world. The repeating shapes, the random, yet in a strange and beautiful way, orderly presentation of unexpected elements when the light or the angle is just right... I will never exhaust the possibilities with my camera. I have a lot of fun abstracting things from reality, where the contextual framework of the scene isn't revealed. This creates a feeling of ambiguity around the image. Extraneous information is dispensed with in order to get to where I'm going. What I love most about abstract patterns is that they challenge our sensibilities, our need to make sense of the world.
