Of the world's grasslands, only 2% is under any type of formal protection. Included in this specialized ecosystem type is the Great Plains of North America, home to an amazing range of biological diversity such as bison, black-footed ferrets, prairie dogs, ferruginous hawks, brassy minnows and horned lizards. These species depend on a relatively dry, windswept sea of grasses and forbes. I'm excited to share my first piece in this new body of work!
