A Brooks Institute graduate in 1974, with the help of my wife as studio manager/ representative ran a very successful commercial photography studio in Hollywood California where I received assignments from ad agencies, design firms, corporations, and national publications.
I had a close relationship with the Eastman Kodak company as a professional photography consultant, was president of ASMP (Ameican Society of Media Photographers). And served on the board of directors of APA L,A. (Advertising Photographers of America Los Angels) for four years where I chaired and served on several committees for the betterment and rights of the photographer.
Currently, I teach Advanced Studio Lighting at Santa Monica College as well as beginning photography. I also teach photography workshops with a good friend and photographer of mine where we lead a group of photography enthusiasts to locations such as, Monument Valley, Anacapa Island, Santa Barbara adventure as well as many other destinations. We give a digital workshop to those that need a littl help in leaning “how to get the most” from their compact digital cameras or DSLR’s. One of our more popular workshop is the “Night Lights” workshop where we teach the technical side and esthetics of photographing at night. By using just the available light from buildings, streetlights, car head lamps, neon lights and the right time of day to capture their image.
My current photography work is a combination of commercial and fine art photography. I like bright colors and a strong sense of composition. To me, there are three ingredients to a taking a good photograph, COMPOSITION, COLOR, and LIGHT the best of each one of those items will determine how successful or un successful the image will be. I believe that the most important of the three is light, it sets the tone or the mood for the viewer of the image. I start out looking for different colors and the different qualities of light which I feel is the most important ingredient of the three.
I just recently started to sell my photographs that I have produce in hopes that my vision will be well received. My images are of different objects and subjects from abstract to straight forward imagery butlighting is the key in every shot. My hopes are to continue to grow as a fine art photographer where I am continuing challenged to reinvent myself to produce images that are intriguing and different in so many different ways.
Please stop by from time to time as I will continue to add new images monthly.
Thanks for stopping by.
