Christmas is full of images of the Holy Family, choirs of angels, snow, baubles, bangles, and beads, and Nutcrackers. Oh, and don't forget Santa Claus! There are so many symbolic images in our celebration of Christmas. Included in this gallery are also some pictues I took in Mexico of a celebration of Las Posadas. Las Posadas means "the inns" in Spanish, and is a reenactment of the search for a place to stay on the journey to Bethlehem for the census. As we all know, all the inns were full, and the Holy Family had to take shelter in a stable. In the Las Posadas celebration, the actors playing Joseph and Mary go from door to door asking for lodging, only to be turned away repeatedly, until they finally take shelter in a stable and Jesus is born and laid in the manger.
