These extraordinary photographs were taken by Edward Reilly during the two years he spent in Afganistan before, during and after the Presidential Elections which were held there in 2004 - the first democratic elections ever held in that country. Hardened by 30 years of war, it is clear to see how tough and resilient the Afghan people are, how the haunted eyes of the children show that they have witnessed too much for their tender years, and yet how, through all this, their rich culture and traditions, their wonderful sense of humor and, above all, their humanity shines through in these images. This is truly a unique record of life in modern Afghanistan, and we are very proud that Edward has chosen to present these images to the world through the platform we have provided at Dezine Design.
The frame and mat combinations displayed here have been personally selected by Edward. However, you can change the picture size, frame and mat to suit your own specifications by choosing the "custom frame" option (which you will see whenever you click on any of the thumbnails below). If you have any questions or comments for the photographer, please feel free to email him personally.
